Volkswagen vs KIA: Reliable Sedans
Comfortable, fuel-efficient sedans are a great way to get to work, take the kids to school, and run errands. The VW Jetta is a stylish sedan that’ll help you make fewer stops for gas. Its 1.4L turbo engine can get up to an EPA-estimated 30 city/40 highway MPG.[i] The Kia Forte is also a stylish sedan, but it’s not quite as efficient. Its base engine is a larger 2.0L that can only get up to an EPA-estimated 27 city/37 highway MPG.
Both cars have seating for five and lots of great amenities. The Volkswagen gives your passengers the luxury of a comfortable ride, though. It allows them to stretch out with 37.4 inches of legroom in the second row. The Kia is a bit cramped in the backseat with only 35.7 inches of legroom.
Volkswagen vs KIA: Sporty Hatchbacks
An athletic hatchback is always fun to drive. They’re agile and offer more cargo room than meets the eye. The VW Golf is a great example. It features 17.4 cubic feet of cargo room and runs on a sporty 1.4L engine that gets up to 147 horsepower. If you’re looking for even more power under the hood, hop in the classic VW Golf GTI. This performance-inspired hatchback is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged engine that gets up to 228 horsepower.
Kia only offers one hatchback. The Kia Rio is both spacious and stylish. It also offers 17.4 cubic feet of cargo room. Unfortunately, it doesn’t offer the same kind of performance. Its 1.6L engine can only get up to 120 horsepower.

Volkswagen vs KIA: Dependable SUVs
Capable SUVs should be prepared for everything from Walmart runs to camping trips. The VW Tiguan delivers everything you’re looking for in an SUV. Its large trunk features 37.6 cubic feet of cargo room. If you need more space, you can fold the back seats down and get an impressive 73.5 cubic feet of cargo room. Plus, you can add a third row of seats that gives it space for up to seven people.
The Kia Sportage is another great compact SUV, but it can’t quite carry as much cargo. The trunk features only 30.7 cubic feet of space. While folding seats also come standard, it can only offer up to 60.1 cubic feet of cargo room. Its smaller frame also prevents it from offering a third row.
