The Volkswagen Beetle is an iconic compact car. Both as a coupe and a convertible, it stands out from the crowd. How do you know if it’s the right car for you, though? To help drivers in Little Rock, Benton, and Conway decide, Owens Murphy Volkswagen looks at what it has to offer in this 2019 VW Beetle review.

Specs & Fuel Economy

2019 Beetle Review

The VW Beetle runs on a 2.0L TSI® 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. It delivers a fun drive with 174 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The 6-speed automatic transmission features both Tiptronic® and Sport mode, so you can take control of your drive.

This efficient powertrain and the aerodynamic design both contribute its excellent fuel economy. With a lightweight frame and minimal drag, the VW Beetle can get up to an EPA-estimated 26 city/33 highway MPG.[i] That’ll help you get the most miles out of its 14.5-gallon fuel tank.

Interior Dimensions

Both the VW Beetle coupe and convertible feature two rows of seats with seating for four people. There’s a comfortable center armrest in the back seat. Up front, you’ll find a flat-bottomed, leather-wrapped steering wheel as well as a leather gearshift knob.

Cloth seats come standard, but V-Tex leatherette upholstery is also available. While the convertible gives you the freedom to drop the top down, the coupe offers plenty of space for tall drivers. The front row features 39.4 inches of headroom and 41.3 inches of legroom.

This compact car also offers lots of cargo room. The trunk has space for all your groceries and golf bags with 15.4 cubic feet of cargo room. If you fold the back seats down, you’ll have up to 29.9 cubic feet of cargo room.

Infotainment System

The dashboard of the VW Beetle features a user-friendly touchscreen display. A 5-inch screen comes standard on the base trim, but a 6.3-inch screen is also available. Both options are Bluetooth® compatible, so you can stream music and make hands-free phone calls.

For even more features, the Volkswagen Car-Net® App-Connect system is also available. It gives you access to your phone’s apps through Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and MirrorLink®. Plus, you’ll have more music to choose from, too, with SiriusXM® All Access.

Whether you’re listening to music, talking on the phone, or getting directions, you’ll get excellent sound quality from the available Fender® Premium Audio System.
